6/10是學期最後一天,這幾天我忙著整理孩子的照片,趁他們最後一次的Party,放映自去年八月底開學,這一年來活動照片回顧,感覺挺好的,此外,應其他家長要求,我也把照片放在網路相簿上,他們可以下載自己孩子的相片,也算是國民外交吧!
回想起這一年的改變還真不少,孩子們初來時語言不通,人生地不熟,看到長得像會說中文的人,都很興奮,見人就問"你是誰? 你要去哪裡?"叫我也很冏,如今兒子的英文進步很多,由級數1進步到28,(一年級基本要求是20),數學還算不錯,在班上屬於自學那組;調皮搗蛋反是見怪不怪;他的手腳靈活,來此增加不少爬樹經驗;女兒也不賴,由老師口中安靜害羞的小女孩變得開朗活潑,和同學有很好的互動(teacher said "I have watched you transform from a quiet shy girl to a happy social friend to everyone.")。他們姊弟倆英文閱讀已成習慣,能夠自得其樂,唸起書來有模有樣,很有美國風；最令人擔心的是"眼睛",許久沒看醫生,近視不知幾百度了,成天瞇眼睛,唉!
再5週就回台灣了,我們的胃已經開始想家了!

I went to Museum of Life and Science. In the entrance, every kid received a bottle of bubbles to play with. We saw a big spider. It's a jumping spider and it's brown and furry. We hit a balloon with a sharp dart and got a prize. It's a magnifying glass. If you look through it, everything looks bigger. We went to see termites table. We drew a curve line on a piece of paper with a ball-point-pen. Then we put termites on it. And then we found termites followed them ! That's amazing! After that,We saw cockroaches racing. They were so disgusting!
We went to the dinosaur trail. I found 13 shark teeth. We played in the water, it was so much fun!
We ate a bug and then got a sticker!
We made bee's bookmark and what I liked best is eating the honey. We then went to see the ants. We moved fake leave like the Leaf-cutter ant do.(it's 10 times its weight.) I did the "Dung Beetle Roll" game. You needed to put your feet on a big ball and roll it with your feet. Your hands had to get on the ground and push the ball with your feet backward. It was fun but tiring. I wanted to have a museum trip like that again! My mother said "sorry,son,that's only once a year !"
I was so tired when I left. We were the last ones to leave. I was very tired and sleepy. I would like to have another day like this!

Amy's first two days in Forest View
Amy was a child who was from Taiwan. When she needed to talk to someone, she didn't know anyone. At recess when she saw a group of girls playing together she wanted to play with them ,but she was afraid to talk to them so she would walk away. She saw a girl who looked lonely, but Amy did not talk to her. Amy went to play swing by herself.
After that, Mrs. Johnson said "find a partner to talk with", Amy looked around, but no one came near her to ask "Can you be my partner?" Because her English was not good, she was afraid to talk to other children. At lunch time, she sat alone. When literacy time came, the teacher said "please sit on the carpet". On the carpet, the teacher told a story but Amy wasn't listening since she did not know a lot of the words. After literacy, Amy went home.
The next day she went to school. This day she saw the girl as same as yesterday, the teacher said to Amy "you can be her partner”, so they sat next to each other. Her name was Jiyeon. She looked like she was from Taiwan also, but she was not. She was from Korea. At recess they played together, talked together, read together. Amy was happy because she got a new friend!
