I'll give Jean my compliment for she helped me with housework" : )等全班都輪完,就是"心理輔導時間"。

Journal 9/24
It has been two months since we arrived in the USA. Everything was settled. I got a driver license,I bought a GPS, i made new friends here. I'm used to cooking, too.
What I worry about is the kids. They had only a little appetite for the food. I hope they can eat more and get stronger. Food here is not like in Taiwan. I have tried hard to prepare the meals.
Journal 9/25
Here is a strange thing. About 30 beetles died in the hall in two days. Some crept into our door and die there. Why? Is it their end of life time? The Autumnal Equinox has passed,it means summer is over.
Lin is out of town for his field work research. As a result, I feel tense all the time. My shoulders are tight. I always think of the time. It's time to return to the books, it's time to buy something for dinner, it's time to cook...and so on. I was in the nervous situation. I hope I can get through it all. Maybe exercising will work!

A long day!
It's a long story to say what happened today. First, I got a prize in the Durham Technical Community College's freshman festival. After practicing three times in the line,I threw 3 balls into the hole and got the plush puppy. Next, I waited for the children to come home, and prepared their snacks. Then I accompanied them to the playground. I was in such a hurry that I mistook the car key to the doorkey. Therefore, we were locked outside! wow!! That was silly of me to do such a thing!
Anyway,I asked Claire's mom for help. If it had happened during office hours,we could have gone to the office and gotten the key.But It was twenty past five,we had to find the man working for the company to get the key for us. She took me to find the man who could get our doorkey from the office. He lives just upstairs and faces our door. We were unlucky,he was not at home. His back hurt and was in the emergency room at the hospital. All we could do is wait and wait. I went to ask if he had come home in the next every 3 hours. He still hadn't come back at 9:00pm. Finally, his wife said "have you ever used a card to open the door?" I have no key, but let's try" Therefore, the woman put a credit card into the gap of the door. She moved the card upward and downward, suddenly, it opened! Only took 1 second! Awesome !!
We have to thank all the neighbors taking care of us. Claire's mom gave us four snack packages and two bottles of water. Miss Wang drove us for dinner in Macdonald's. We stayed in Miss She's house and had had sweet fruit after dinner. The four amazing woman unlocked the door for us. The old Chinese saying "you depend on the parents at home, but you depend on friends outside of home" "Good neighbers are better than relatives".
At least, we were safe and secure at home and saved $60 on the locksmith now.

Family education
I went to the class in the church which helps us dealing with the questions we have met. It's helpful,so I copy some of them as the reference in education.
The Parent-Teacher Conference:five must-ask questions by Cindy Bond
1.What skills and knowledge will my child be expected to master this year?
*What will my child learn this year in key subjects like math, history, and English?
*Are there challenging academic standards in place at this school, and how do they compare with those at other school districts? May I see them?
*How do you inform students about the academic standards they're expected to meet? What kind of projects and assignments have you planned that will help my child meet higher academic standards?
2.How will my child be evaluated?
*What kind of information do you use to evaluate students? How do you know if they're academically ready to move on to the next grade?
*How are grades determined in your class?
3.What can I do to stay more involved in my child's academic progress?
*What can I do at home to complement what is happening in the classroom?
*How can I know on a daily basis what homework has been assigned?
*How can I support teachers'efforts in implementing higher academic standards?
4.How do you accommodate differences in learning?
*What if my child is a slow learner and falls behind,or is a fast learner and is bored?
*Are summer school ,tutoring,or other programs available for students who need more help?
5.How are older students prepared for further learning after high school?
*Are children encouraged to think about a wide variety of career interests
*Are all students encouraged to take algebra by the end of eighth grade?

A journal in ESL
Dear Lin:
Wow! You must transfer four flights this time. The wait takes so long.Besides, when you arrive RDU,it's 7:50 in the evening. We are looking forward to seeing your photos and videos.
We saw a deer running across the road last Sunday. It surprised us. We had never seen a deer walking around freely out of the zoo before. This made us excited.
We went swimming with Maria's family on Sunday afternoon. The swimming pool is brand new.

That's what I need !

It's really heavy when we picked up and walked arcoss the street. They also gave us an coffee machine, some coffee beans, and "大同電鍋". It's new than ours. Besides, they are young and polite. I like them.

Forest of view
He is a good boy.
Ps.1今天兒子拿回來一張黃色警告單,9/10他在車上亂玩,he jumps around and playing while the bus is moving. Very distracting for the driver. Have warned him several times. ..
2.Ms. Heath said it was a big problem about the 1st grade's math. It was too many words. The math material is not good for them. They cannot read the sentences yet ! She has to take concrete things to explain it. A good textbook should be filled with pictures!

Casey

Good Job!!Have a good day !!^_^
Yes !
